Waiting for Medicare

TA | April 20, 2009

Q: I am retiring at 62 and will need primary insurance for approximately 3 years until I am 65 and have Medicare coverage. I am also a little bit over 300 pounds and take blood pressure medication (have been taking it for over 4 years and all is stable.

A: If the 3 year short term medical is available in your state, this would be ideal. You would need to pay for your own BP medicine but most BP meds are not expensive. Weight is not an obstacle to eligibility for this insurance. See http://www.medsave.com/articles/Review-of-Secure-12x3-STM.htm for more information.
