Q: If I answer "yes" to a medical insurance will I need to submit documents proving what I wrote in order to qualify for the insurance?

A: No; the answers on short term medical insurance applications are not checked. The application does not request and details. The questions are deliberately worded to be simple "yes" or "no" answers. Your answers are simply accepted at face value for the determination of eligibility of insurance. If you answer "no" then you are eligible for insurance. If you answer "yes" then you are not eligible. It is that simple.

Of course, an applicant who deliberately gives a false answer on an insurance application risks having the insurance rescinded and this intentional mis-statement would also be a violation of state law.
