Pregnancy coverage under Core Health Insurance

January 1, 2010

Q: Does Core Health cover expenses related to pregnancy and delivery? If so, what is the waiting period for coverage? Also, when the baby is born would any coverage be extended to him as well?

A: No, Core Health Insurance does not cover normal pregnancy and delivery charges. Complications of pregnancy may be covered.

A newborn baby can be added to any health insurance policy. Make sure to notify the insurer within the first month after delivery.

Whenever regular maternity and delivery care for a woman who is uninsured, buying insurance during the pregnancy is not the solution. Instead, investigate non-insured community based care programs. Local OB/gyn offices and hospitals can provide information for these programs in your community.
